Julian Knight MP said: “As the Member of Parliament for Solihull, and having experienced the role of a carer firsthand, I am acutely aware of the challenges faced by those who selflessly devote themselves to the care of their loved ones. These unsung heroes deserve our unwavering support and recognition for their invaluable contributions to society.
In response to numerous correspondence from constituents, I have recently written a letter to the Chancellor, advocating for a significant increase to the Carer's Allowance. Drawing from my own personal experiences as a career, both in my teenage years and currently while caring for a family member with dementia, I understand the toll that caregiving can take. It is imperative that we ensure carers receive the financial assistance they require to continue their vital work without facing undue hardship.
I am thrilled to highlight an upcoming event organized by the Solihull Healthcare Partnership (SHP) that seeks to provide much-needed support and resources for carers in our community. On Saturday, April 13th, 2024, from 10am to 1pm, SHP will be hosting a Carers Event at the Solihull Retirement Village, located at Victoria Crescent, Shirley, Solihull B90 3LP.
This event offers an invaluable opportunity for carers to connect with local organizations and members of the SHP team who are dedicated to supporting them in their caregiving roles. Attendees will have access to information stands, health checks, and light refreshments, ensuring a supportive and informative environment for all who attend.
The event will feature participation from a range of esteemed organizations, including Carers Trust Solihull, Age UK Solihull, Gateway Family Service, Healthwatch Solihull, Solihull Council Adult Social Care, and many more. With free onsite parking available, I encourage all carers in our community to join us and take advantage of this invaluable opportunity to connect with resources and support networks.”
