Julian will soon be riding 130 miles to raise money for Solihull military charity Troop Aid to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
He will be cycling from the Imperial War Museum in London to the memorial in Meriden for fallen members of the WW1 cyclist regiment. The bike ride will take place on 2nd and 3rd August and he hopes to arrive in Meriden for a Troop Aid commemorative tea party on Sunday 3rd August. The Afternoon Tea Party is being held at the Scout Hut grounds at the Mill Pool in Lode Lane.
Julian says: “Troop Aid do a fantastic job supplying our troops in foreign parts with the basics and some little luxuries so that they know that they are truly appreciated. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to raise some money for this Solihull based charity and at the same time mark the sacrifices of those who fought in a war which still touches our lives today.”
Pam Sutton, Secretary of Troop Aid welcomed Julian's fundraising effort, saying: "Julian’s bike ride is a fantastic way to remember all those servicemen who went to war in 1914, most of whom did not return, and equally now he is raising funds in support of Troop Aid to help all those servicemen and women who are injured in current conflict across the world.”
