Julian Knight MP has written to Marion Canning, Chairman of the Solihull Borough Talking Newspapers Association, to congratulate her and the whole team for winning a prestigious award.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest recognition a voluntary group can receive in the United Kingdom.
SBTNA give blind and partially-sighted people in Solihull the ability to access local news by recording audio versions from their studio in The Core.
Commenting on the award, Julian Knight said:
“To win a Queen’s Award is an extraordinary achievement, and a huge tribute to the work that Marion and her volunteers have done over the years. I hope that she and the team are extremely proud.
“I know that Covid-19 has delayed both their award ceremony and temporarily paused their recordings, but I’m sure they will be firing on all cylinders again very soon.”
