Julian Knight MP has launched a new campaign to identify and celebrate Silhillians who are going above and beyond to support their neighbours and the community during the Covid-19 crisis – and he’s appealed to the public to help him identify them.
‘Solihull Points of Light’, launched alongside local community news network Solihull Updates, will put a regular spotlight on individuals, groups, and businesses who have stepped up to help assist vulnerable citizens and the NHS.
A photo, description of their work, and message of thanks will run on Julian’s website and local social media channels, and he will also write them a letter of thanks from the community.
Those wishing to nominate a local ‘point of light’ are invited to contact Julian on his parliamentary email at [email protected], providing the name, photograph, and contact details of their nominee as well as a description of the amazing work they do.
Commenting on the news, Julian Knight said:
“Ever since I was first returned to represent Solihull, I’ve been incredibly proud of the strength of our town’s community spirit. Time and again I’ve had the privilege of outstanding men and women who do so much to keep local charities, religious organisations, and clubs thriving.
“I know that times are hard, but crises such as this so often bring out the best in us and whilst I won’t be able to meet today’s heroes in person, I wanted to ensure that they get the recognition they deserve.”
