Julian Knight MP enjoyed meeting a wide variety of volunteers, activists, and entrepreneurs at Solilhull’s Go Green Fair on Saturday 30th April.
The event, which is now in its seventh year, was held as usual in Mell Square in the town centre.
A keen cyclist, he especially enjoyed catching up with the work of Cyclesolihull, a volunteer-led community initiative set up to encourage residents to get on their bikes and explore our lovely area.
Julian also met some of the volunteers from Solihull’s ‘Hedgehog Improvement Area’, an effort to make our town friendlier to wildlife which is struggling to adapt to the changing environment, and Borro Club, an imaginative new group which encourages people to rent out their under-used tools and household goods.
Commenting on the visit, Julian said:
“The Go Green Fair is well on its way to becoming a real Solihull tradition, and as an MP I really appreciate the opportunity to meet so many hard-working residents and volunteers and see what they’re doing to make our town a nicer, greener place to live.
“It was really good to see that we have such an energetic enthusiastic cycling community. Both my wife and I are very keen bike riders, and it really is a fantastic way to get about: faster than walking, cleaner than driving, and it keeps you fit too.”
