Julian Knight MP has given his support to the first-ever national day to celebrate and support relationship and sex education in schools.
Thursday 27th June 2019 is the 1st national RSE Day – an annual celebration of excellent Relationships and Sex Education that educates children and young people about healthy relationships and positive sexual health.
Schools and the wider community are encouraged to get involved and consider their role in promoting healthy relationships and positive sexual health - whether as a parent/carer, an educator, a faith leader, a councillor, a health practitioner, a friend or family member.
Commenting on the news, Julian Knight said:
“I have always said that schools need to not just foster academic and vocational excellence, but produce well-rounded citizens too. My work on financial education for young people showed me just how life-changing this aspect of the curriculum can be.
“Every child deserves to be taught the facts about relationships, and equipped to navigate them in a healthy and responsible way, and I am very pleased to give my support to RSE Day and everybody involved in teaching this important topic.”
