Julian Knight MP attended St Margaret’s Church of England School on Friday to announce the winner of his Christmas card competition.
Ten-year-old Molly Bloxham’s design saw off stiff competition from hundreds of entries to take the top prize, and she and her parents will be joining Julian for tea on the terrace at the House of Commons in the near future.
Julian also give Molly a certificate of commendation in front of her entire school and family at a special Assembly. Her picture is now on the front of his official Christmas card and will be sent to a local residents, business owners, the Prime Minister – and even Her Majesty the Queen!
Remarking on the result, Julian said:
“The theme for the card this year was the true meaning of Christmas. Whilst impressed by the number of entries I received, and the high standard across the board, Molly’s design of Mary and Joseph kneeling beside the manger of the Baby Jesus really captured the essence of the message.
“I would like to thank Michelle Carson-Williams from Holmes Noble for her assistance in sponsoring the competition. Most of all, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.”
Michelle Carson-Williams said:
“It was an honour to be invited to sponsor the Christmas card competition for a second year, as Julian mentioned all of the entries were of a very high standard and beautifully created. I’d like to say well done to all that took part and a special mention to Molly for her winning design.”
Jane Martin, headmistress of St Margaret’s, said:
“We are delighted that Mr Knight chose the design of one of our pupils. It captures perfectly the nativity that we celebrate. We hope that it has touched the hearts of all who have received it.”
