Julian Knight MP has backed calls for more safety measures to be taken for the roundabout on Stratford Road after a series of incidents in which cars have left the road.
Local residents Sandra Allen and Yvonne Jordan got in touch with him to report that a number of cars had left the road whilst crossing the roundabout, striking and damaging walls and bollards.
Some of these incidents go unreported, which means that Solihull Council is not alerted to the damage and the defences can be left unrepaired.
After visiting the scene, Julian Knight said:
“These incidents are causing distress to nearby residents and costing the Council money in repairs – and we’ve been very lucky that no pedestrians or drivers have yet been hurt.
“If cars are regularly leaving the road here then there is clearly need for more measures to protect drivers and the public. I will encourage the Council to repair the current safety barriers, then investigate the problem and see what can be done – it is far better to prevent accidents than clean up after them.”
