Julian Knight, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Solihull, is to meet with Birmingham Airport bosses over the potential for more air traffic over Solihull.
The plans for a second runway and a massive expansion in the number of take-off flights prompted Mr Knight to call for the meeting so that he can gauge any potential disruption to the lives of the people of Solihull.
"I welcome the economic benefits and extra jobs of airport expansion but I am worried that we don't sleepwalk into a situation where we have lots of low flying aircraft going over the densely populated areas of Solihull."
Mr Knight has already signed an e-petition calling for a limit on the number of planes going over Solihull and urges interested parties to do likewise.
Olton homeowner Mr Knight said: "We have to get organised early so that the authorities know that we don't want our peace and quiet disrupted. If the planned expansion goes ahead then I can see the possibility of more aircraft flying over Elmdon and other parts of Solihull being disrupted. I will be taking the concerns of the people of Solihull into this meeting and looking for concrete assurances. After all, we want the jobs in Solihull but we don't want the planes over our houses."
