Julian Knight, newly elected MP for Solihull, has opened the carnival in Tudor Grange Park on Saturday. The carnival this year took place at the end of National Volunteer Week; Julian had highlighted this, and the vital role volunteering plays in Solihull, just a few days before while making his maiden speech in Parliament.
The carnival, which is organised yearly by the Solihull Lions Club, raises money for the Lions organisation. The Lions are a voluntary organisation for all ages, raising money for both international and local causes – including Solihull Life Opportunities (SoLO), a charity supported by Julian.
Julian says: “I am thrilled to be an honourary Lion and was delighted to take part in the opening of the carnival, which I am proud to say was a roaring success. The Lions do invaluable work in the community and are part of Solihull’s incredible tradition of volunteering, from organising trips for the elderly in the borough to raising money for disaster relief abroad.”
