Julian Knight MP has issued a statement on the proposed closure of Solihull Magistrates' Court:
"Just to let you all know, I am aware of the proposed closure to the Solihull Magistrates’ Court, and have approached the relevant Minister for a meeting at the beginning of next week.
I will be seeking reassurances that there will be no job losses as a result of the proposal, and that Solihull residents still have good access to legal services.
I will also speak with the Minister to ensure that Birmingham Magistrates’ Court will be able to cope with the additional hearings it will receive, that would have previously been heard at the Solihull Magistrates’ Court. The closure and sale of the Solihull site will raise £2 million, and will allow for a redevelopment which hopefully will able to provide Solihull with more jobs, and more prospects."
