Julian has recently been made aware of a planning application submitted to SMBC to install a 19-metre-high telecommunications mast on the corner of Knightsbridge Road and Castle Lane, outside Tender Years Nursery school.
Following several representations made to him by residents over recent days, Julian has submitted a letter of objection to the Councils Planning Department. Julian is clear, he absolutely supports the rollout of 5G across Solihull. However, local business owners have proposed an alternative piece of land for the mast and cabinets to be installed on which may be more appropriate, and should have further examination.
The small parcel of land currently proposed is used by those who work at the nursery and shops, and the mast would be overlooked by residential properties.
Commenting, Julian said: "I would encourage local residents to submit their representations to the Councils Planning Department by emailing [email protected] and quoting the application reference which is PL/2021/00038/PN. If any resident would like some advice on how to submit a representation, please do contact my Constituency office.
"I would like to thank Cllr Paul Thomas, Councillor for Lyndon, who has called this application into the Planning Applications Committee. I know that community campaigner Josh O’Nyons has also been supporting residents wishing to object."
