Julian Knight MP has welcomed the Government’s announcement of a major cash boost to help support care homes through the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ministers have announced a £600 million Infection Control Fund, launched to reduce the transmission of coronavirus on care homes.
There are 1,981 registered care home beds in Solihull, and the borough will receive £2,562,829. The funding will be used ensure that care homes can continue their efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus by helping them cover the costs of implementing measures to reduce transmission.
This includes rolling out training on infection control for staff, reducing transmission by supporting providers to reduce workforce movements, and stepping up NHS clinical support to care homes.
The fund comes on top of £3.2 billion that has already been made available to local authorities to support key public services, including social care, since the start of the crisis.

“I know that this is an extremely challenging time for those who live and work in care homes, many of whom find themselves right on the front line of the battle against Covid-19. This new funding will help to ensure that they have the best possible protection and are able to continue providing essential care.”
