Julian Knight MP paid tribute to David Cameron after his final performance at Prime Minister’s Questions.
Reflecting on his six years as Prime Minister and eleven as leader of the Conservative Party, Julian praised the substantial advances our country has made since 2010.
These include tackling the deficit whilst ring-fencing NHS spending and cutting taxes to the creation of millions of private sector jobs and a bold approach to vital education reform.
Commenting after the event, Julian Knight said:
“David Cameron can be proud of his service to our country over the last six years. He leaves office with the deficit down, government spending reduced, taxes cut, and a record number of people in work.
“He has never been afraid to make bold decisions in the national interest, be it going into coalition to secure a stable government, tackling the deficit to build a more secure future for our children, and challenging the vested interests in our education system.
“All of this has been done with a keen sense of social justice, too: funding for our NHS has been protected, and the Government has worked hard to improve the prospects of young people by improving vocational education and employer-led training.
“Nor has he been afraid to give the people their say, either by taking the Scottish Nationalists head on to keep our country together in 2014 or calling the referendum on the EU.
“I have no doubt that he and Samantha will thrive whatever they choose to do next, and I wish them and their children the very best for the future.”
