Julian Knight MP was very pleased to meet the pilots and paramedics who staff the Midlands Air Ambulance at their Worcestershire base last week.
It was a welcome opportunity to thank them in person for the vital service they provide to our community, especially to isolated or otherwise vulnerable residents whom the emergency services might otherwise struggle to reach.
The Midlands Air Ambulance is currently seeking a Government grant of £1 million to expand their fleet with a fourth, modern helicopter, and Julian has pressed ministers to support them.
Commenting on the visit, Julian said:
“I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to meet the men and women behind the Air Ambulance. This service is immensely valuable to the community, and often the ability to get somebody to hospital by helicopter can be the difference between life and death.
“Many residents give their time and money to help keep the Air Ambulance flying, and they deserve our thanks as well. There is no better recognition of how deeply we value the efforts of the people I met today.
“The next step for this service is a fourth helicopter, and I have written to ministers in support of the Air Ambulance’s application for a £1 million grant from the funds we have levied from fines on misbehaving banks.”
