Julian Knight MP is very proud that Solihull is creating more jobs than any part of the UK outside London.
According to the 2015 Office of National Statistics (ONS) ‘Business Register and Employment Survey’ (BRES), overall employment in Solihull has increased by 16 per cent over the five years from 2010-2015.
Full-time employment has increased by nearly a third, and manufacturing jobs are up by 25 per cent – that’s 3,700 new jobs – thanks in part to our thriving local car-making industry.
Air transport and financial services are also doing well, whilst emerging specialist sectors like scientific R&D and TV production increased by more than two thirds in 2015.
Commenting on the news, Julian said:
“These fantastic employment figures confirm the good news that I’ve been seeing almost every month in our town’s job numbers since I was elected last year.
“But our Solihull success story isn’t just something to boast about – every job represents a life transformed by the security and independence offered by secure employment.
“That’s why I’ve been so determined to do everything I can to support our local employers, whether through my Best Local Shop campaign, Solihull Independents Day (an annual celebration of our local entrepreneurs) or holding our town’s first Disability Confident reverse jobs fair.”
