A local doctor has been shortlisted for an NHS award after being nominated by local MP Julian Knight.
Dr James Reed is Chief Clinical Information Officer for Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT). He has been shortlisted for the Future NHS Award for his work introducing new technology to enhance patient care.
Since 2017, Dr Reed and BSMHFT have worked tirelessly to improve the use of existing technology and the development of new innovations that all aim to put patients at the heart of services and care.
The Trust is now at the forefront of digital innovation in the health sector, being recognised for its innovative approach to technology in 2017 by becoming one of NHS England’s ‘Global Digital Exemplar’ organisations.
Not only has this unlocked a broad range of benefits for service users, but being part of the Global Digital Exemplar programme ensures that progress and benefits in each individual project is reviewed and improved upon continually, and that all innovations are shared (once tested and refined) among other NHS trusts across England.
