Julian Knight MP has urged local community groups to bid for grants from a new £100,000 charitable pot.
The National Express Foundation, which supports young people by helping colleges and community groups fund bursaries to help them succeed in life, has announced its first-ever additional funding round.
In April the NEF disbursed £230,000 to support 2,000 young people across the West Midlands and Kent, and following National Express’s decision to double the charity’s funding has now made an extra £100,000 available to our region.
Local educational institutions can apply for funding of £10,000 per year with their proposals for an innovative bursary scheme that benefits local disadvantaged young students, and local community groups can apply for a set amount of either £2,500, £5,000, £10,000 or £20,000.
The deadline for applications is Friday 24th August. Full guidelines on the application process and a copy of the application form can be downloaded from the National Express website.
Commenting on the news, Julian Knight said:
“I’d like to encourage every Solihull college, sports team, and youth group to consider applying for a new grant from the National Express Foundation. Our town really runs on its volunteer spirit, and in my time as MP I have met a huge number of volunteers who could put this money to good use in our community.”
