Julian Knight MP has joined MPs from across the House of Commons in the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Broadband.
This body brings together Members of Parliament from all across the country to campaign together for more investment in rural broadband and combatting connectivity ‘not-spots’.
Julian has also put internet infrastructure at the heart of his campaign for the chairmanship of the powerful Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Select Committee, where he has promised to introduce quarterly hearings to hold executives and other key decision-makers to account.
Speaking after the meeting, Julian Knight said:
“In the increasingly-online 21st Century economy, a fast broadband connection is rapidly coming to be seen not as a nice-to-have, but an essential utility.
“Poor connectivity can prevent businesses from serving customers online and ordinary citizens from engaging with the growing number of state services provided through Gov.uk.
“I am very pleased to join colleagues from all parties, and all parts of our country, to put the spotlight on Openreach and other providers and ensure they are held to account for their promises and their failure to deliver.”
