Julian Knight, local campaigner and Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Solihull, has just completed a week's volunteering around the town. Julian worked at the Marie Curie hospice on Marsh Lane, met with volunteers at the Citizens Advice bureau, picked up litter, painted road signs near his home in Olton and collected in the town centre for AGE UK.
Julian wanted to highlight the crucial role that volunteers make in Solihull and encourage more people to come forward and make Britain's best place to live even better.
"People here in Solihull really do look after one another and the voluntary community is thriving here. But we always need more people to get involved and come forward.
"As part of campaigning I have knocked on over 25,000 doors here in Solihull and it never fails to surprise me how engaged people are not just in politics but in the hundreds of organisations that strive to make this a great place to live, where people really look after each other."
