Julian Knight, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Solihull has held urgent talks with Les Lawrence the chairman of the Heart of England Trust over delays to the new urgent care centre at Solihull hospital.
The plans for the new state of the art urgent care centre have been beset with wrangling and disputes over recent months, threatening the delivery of the project. However, a firm stance taken by Mr Knight and Caroline Spelman MP has it seems led to a breaking of the deadlock.
"Progress has not been as quick as I'd have liked but finally the plans for the heart of England Trust have come together. They want to place the new urgent care centre at block 14 at Solihull hospital, which should offer around the clock care for patients from 2016. It has been a tough fight but we are getting there, finally. The Heart of England trust is now working closely with the Solihull CCG to ensure that this urgent care centre is delivered on time and on budget for patients. "
However, Mr Knight added that he would keep up the pressure on the Trust to see that they delivered what has been promised. "We want this new centre and that is what I am determined we will get, I will continue to press HEFT to ensure before and after the election to ensure that they follow through on their commitments to the people of Solihull."
