Two weeks ago residents of Foredrove Lane, Elmdon, were hit by flooding following unprecedented heavy rainfall. Partly due to blocked drains, the water built up and the ground floor of numerous houses along the road were flooded with inches of water, causing damage to furniture and property, and considerable distress to residents. The houses flooded were a mix of council properties and privately owned homes. Residents have been left with the traumatic and considerable job of clearing up the resulting detritus.
Julian consequently met with residents after the flooding to discuss their options and to act on their behalf. He will be setting up meetings with Solihull Council and Solihull Housing to ensure the best response and support possible for those hit by the flooding. Julian’s team have been liaising with the affected residents late into the evening.
“The most important thing we can do is to make sure that this does not happen again,” Julian said. “Having seen first-hand the destruction, damage, and distress this has caused to residents I want to ensure that their issues are fully represented at the highest level, both with the various authorities and the emergency services. What’s more, I want to see the residents of Foredrove Lane treated properly so they can get on with their lives without the fear of more floods.”
